Supplies for "Figures in Art"

Supplies can be found at Jerry's Artarama:

If you are puchasing oils, my favorite brand is by Charvin Colors available at Jerry's Artarama.
Another great brand is Lukas, they have both student grade and professional grade.
Acrylics, check out the Matisse Structure Brand, also at Jerry's.


You will be painting from a live model in this class, no photos required!

Oils Paints:
• Burnt Umber or Red Oxide -
•A cool red like Alizarin Crimson (or Magenta if you are using Charvin)
•A warm or regular red - Cadmium Red, Napthol Red Light, or Vermillion
•Cad Yellow or Charvin's French Primary Yellow
•Ultramarine Blue
•Cerulean Blue (Or Manganese Blue) -Hue OK (good for mixing brighter opaque greens)
•Titanium White

Optional Colors
- I use with my figures palette
- transparent colors
• Viridian
• Indian Yellow
• Prussian Blue

• Canvas or canvas panels bring 2 - 14 x 18 or 16 x 20 is recommended . I also recommend Centurion Linen panels from Jerry's, inexpensive and comes in packs of 3, much better than the other panels.
• A range of brushes (natural bristle for oils), for example size 2, 4, 6, & 8 square and filbert
• A portable floor easel ...we have easels here, but please bring one if you have it
• wood or paper palette (no paper plates or flimsy materials)
• For Oil: Gamsol by Gamblin safestr with NO odor
• An UNBREAKABLE jar to hold your solvent or water painting medium
• Paper Towels
